The "Conference and Workshop for Building V4 Network Researching Spatial and Social Aspects of Disaster Management" supported by the Visegrád Fund took place on 22-23 May 2013 in Budapest.

On the first day, 22 May presenters from Visegrád countries reported about natural disasters of various length, analysing the reasons for and the effects of damage, next to elaborating possibilities for handling – possibly forecasting – disasters, as well as their wider effects upon society. Floods, inundations, droughts and deflation were considered with a particular emphasis upon geoinformatics, including the possibilities and applicability of distant detection.

Participation in the 22 May event was free following registration, including catering (sandwich buffet at noon), however, the number of participants is limited and therefore it was recommended to register in time.

The second conference day, 23 May was dedicated to sharing participant experiences with research & development projects directly or indirectly related to the conference topic (e.g. in EU FP 6 and FP 7), next to information about funding possibilities.

Participation in the 23 May programme was constrained to a personal invitation.
Conference languages were English and Hungarian, all Hungarian lectures and contributions was translated to English.
